Permanent makeup and face tattoos – your laser removal guide.

Face tattoos are an even bigger commitment than most, so you may find yourself questioning previous choices. Fear not, for those face tattoos or permanent makeup procedures that didn’t go as planned, or maybe you’re just not obsessed with any more, we’ve curated a guide to getting laser treatments on your face.

Treatments we can offer laser removal on:

• Eyebrow tattoo removal: microblading; microshading; and ombre. • Face and scalp treatment removal, such as hairline microblading; scalp micropigmentation; and freckle tattoos. • Face tattoos.

Sensitivity, safety, and skin….

Our priority is always safety and ensuring your skin, which is particularly sensitive on the face, is being treated carefully. Our precise and accurate lasers, confidently trained and experienced laser technicians, and in depth consultations, ensure that we tailor the experience to work best for you and your skin. We provide you with goggles to protect your eyes and will give you detailed instructions on how best to care for your healing skin.

Xlase Plus (our go to choice of laser system) works by allowing the light produced by the laser to pass through the skin and shatter the tattoo ink into tiny particles, all without burning or damaging the upper-layer of skin. We always recommend being open with us about any skin concerns you have. It is also important to note that just like tattoos, an individual’s skin will respond differently in terms of healing time, and how many sessions are required.

You do not need to shave your face before your sessions. You also do not need to panic, the laser will not burn off your eyebrows! In very rare cases if mild hair loss happened, it would regrow, as the laser does not go deep enough to damage your hair follicles permanently.

How soon is too soon?

We can start the removal process as early as six weeks after your tattoo/makeup procedure as long as it is completely healed. It is worth taking the time to really consider what is the right decision for you before jumping into the commitment of laser. You need to think about the further time and financial limitations that may impact your next steps which you can look into here.

It will roughly take 1-3 sessions for light microblading removal. Thicker and denser eyebrow tattoo removal for example will require a minimum of 3 sessions, this again differs for each client to achieve their desired result.

What are the possible side effects?

Eyebrow tattoos and microblading removal typically come with very mild side effects such as temporary redness in the area which is known as frosting. We can explain this further in a consultation so you are fully aware of what to expect. The redness can last from 15 minutes to 2 days, and is more likely to present itself for denser tattoos that require deeper work to target the ink.
